A balanced single mechanical seal with a unique and modern design. The springs are not placed directly behind the stationary face, this being the most common competitor solution, but have been located on a larger diameter further away from the critical O-ring and seal face gap in order to reduce risk for clogging. Due to the relocation of the springs, more robust springs may be used enabling change from compression to tension springs. The robust tension spring design gives the seal better performance since it is more difficult for particles and fibers from the product to reach and clog up the springs. Additionally the relatively long springs with larger wire diameter increase the axial and radial movement capabilities of the seal.

The Huhnseal BC series is a new type of seal designed for various heavy-duty applications where durability is key. This is a robust, reliable and cost efficient seal suitable for standardization in larger process industries but also for customers with a more limited amount of positions.

A balanced single mechanical seal specially designed for slurry applications. The spring package is placed outside of the product zone to avoid clogging. The use of this spring package allows for larger axial movement capabilities compared to conventional spring packages. The design is robust with premium materials from top suppliers. In the sealing area the surfaces are smooth with no sharp edges and corners to avoid inducing turbulent flow which will increase the wear.

It is ideal for installation in pumps and agitators where it is difficult to remove the shaft and it handles normal pressure, temperature and speed.  Because the seal is delivered in two halves which are mounted together with eight screws, it is very easy to install.

The seal is assembled outside the pump and then pushed along the shaft on to the pump cover and then the gland bolts are tightened. When the set screws are tightened the distance clips can be removed. Huhnseal FS is available in shaft dimensions between 40-200 mm. Patent 5662340.
